Kaliningrad is famous for its forts. Fort XI, named after the ancient family of Dönhoff , preserved its features better than the other twelve. For many years, the entrance to its territory for ordinary people was closed: the building belonged to the Ministry of Defense. However, today you can take part in quests and see historical reconstructions there. Besides, guided tours through the mysterious casemates of the fort, formerly protecting the railroad to Insterburg, is a big hit among visitors.
