The Königsberg Castle and the Cathedral are considered the most important sights of the city that we inherited from the Prussians. However, nowadays there are only remains of the castle in the historical center of Kaliningrad. It was founded in 1255 and originally belonged to the Teutonic Order. The Königsberg Castle heroically survived the war, but in 1967 it was demolished by the Soviet authorities. Yet, there have been discussions regarding the restoration of the castle since the 1990s.
